What is IELTS?

The international English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to help you work, study or migrate to a country where English is the native language. Your ability to listen, read, write and speak in English will be assessed during the test. IELTS is graded on a scale of 1-9

NMC accepts IELTS certificate if you have achieved:

  1. An overall score of minimum 7
  2. Min score of 6.5 in writing
  3. Min score of 7 in reading, listening and speaking
NMC accept both the paper based and computer based IELTS Academic test delivered at a test centre.
NMS will not accept the IELTS indicator test.

As per NMC, candidate can combine IETLS score & achieve the required mark in two sittings:

  1. You sit the tests within 12 months of each other
  2. You’re tested in all four sections at the same time
  3. You achieve at least 7 for reading, listening, and speaking, and at least 6.5 for writing in at least one of the two test sittings and
  4. No scores in either of the two test sittings are below 6.5 for listening, reading, and speaking, or below 6 for writing

You cannot combine OET and IELTS test scores when combining tests

Examples of combined IELTS scores that will be accepted

Refer to the below representation table:

Combined IELTS scores: Accepted
Listening Reading Writing Speaking
Test-1 7 6.5 6 7
Test-2 6.5 7 7.5 8

The above combination would be accepted. The applicant has scored at least 7 in the listening, speaking and reading sections and at least 6.5 in the writing section in either of the two test sittings, and no score is lower than 6.5 for listening, reading or speaking and the writing score is not lower than 6.0



Examples of combined low IELTS scores that will NOT be accepted

Refer to the below representation table:

The above application would not be accepted. The applicant has a Listening score lower than 6.5
