What is CBT?

A CBT test is to be taken in the home country which is a computer based test at a Pearson Vue centre. It is the first part of the competence based test before OSCE. The CBT comprises of 120 multiple-choice questions scored as correct or incorrect. Duration of the test is around 4 hrs and to be successful in CBT an applicant should qualify the test with 68% minimum

It is the first level of competency based testing. You can sit your CBT or OSCE in any order, but you must successfully complete both parts to continue with your application for initial registration

New structure

The new CBT is split into two parts: Part A covers numeracy and Part B covers clinical questions for nursing or midwifery.

Part A: Numeracy 30 Mins 15
Part B: Clinical 2 hours and 30 Mins 100

Fees

The fee for sitting both parts of the new CBT will stay at £83. If you need to resit the new CBT, the following fees will apply:

  1. Resit Part A and Part B: £83
  2. Resit Part A only: £50
  3. Resit Part B only: £70
